A bit disappointedJun 18, 2008 I really wanted to like this product. In theory I do but there are some definite drawbacks:
#1 Assembly is a bit tedious and would probably be much easier with two people, to help hold things in place.
#2 The desk is not quite sturdy enough for my comfort level. I am afraid if my child leans too much on the desk while creating an art project the desk will become unstable or even break.
#3 The knob used to switch the desk to a chalkboard seems flimsy, like it may not last a long time.
#4 My biggest concern: The knobs (plastic screw covers) used to hold it all in place come off very easily. My daughter loves to take them off and "collect" them or try to put them in her sister's mouth (choking hazard). Not only is it hazardous in more than one way, the repeated off and on is causing the plastic to strip out.
I don't think I will return the product but right now it is only being used as a chalkboard and we are looking for a way to replace the knobs with something more sturdy. I wish I would have purchased a regular, more sturdy chalkboard.
