Not durable at all.Sep 18, 2008 I've had the chair less than one year. The functionality is good, but the durability is poor.
The system that holds the chair to the base contains a weak link, a small plastic piece that aligns the ball bearings. Today, this tiny, internal, plastic piece broke, and the chair is worthless. It no longer sits upright, and it is unusable.
The wood, and metal fixtures seem to hold up fine, but if you're going to use the chair on a regular basis, I would recommend finding something else.

Exceeded my expectations.May 11, 2005 Let me begin by stating that the chair looks great in my home office/living room. I had also been looking for black or espresso colored wooden office chair and the only two I liked were this one and one from a different store. This chair is pretty heavy and seems very sturdy. My advice is to take it easy while assembling it. I ran into some trouble which was my fault for trying to assemble it without the instructions (Typical Male, I know). Shipping took a week.

Okay, not great...Be careful of your floors!Apr 13, 2005 I bought this chair for my home office after using a folding chair for 3 years. I have used it for about a week and am returning it. First, it is kind of a pain to put together and there is nothing to secure the leg covers on 3 of the 5 legs so they constantly slide around. The MAIN reason I am returning the chair is because the wheels have a seam down the middle that have left indents on my nice wooden floors and ruined them in the area just below and in front of my desk. I don't like the chair enough to put down a hard plastic floor mat (and I think that would be tacky). And if you are not used to having 5 legs underneath you, be careful...I crack my ankles on the legs ALL the time...might just be me, but I found this chair uncomfortable and cumbersome. It is much less than one at another retailer, but be sure this is the kind of chair you want before you purchase it.

BUYER BEWAREFeb 11, 2005 I bought this chair in the walnut finish. It took 2 people 2 hours to put it together. The instructions were very difficult to follow. The screw holes were not aligned right for attaching the arms. Some of the screws were too long and actually went threw the back of the chair causing damage to the wood. I would have sent it back but the special tool this company included stripped the tops of the screws. Now the screws cannot be removed and the pieces cannot be unassembled .
