Sturdy steps with storageSep 09, 2008 This top quality step stool is made of sturdy, thick, real wood construction that is strong and firm, with beautiful detailing. The animals are not just painted on, but hand carved. The table is a good size for "just-beginning-hang-on-to-things" to about 6 years old. We bought this for my 3-year old grandson and he stores his music instruments in it (tambourine, cymbals, whistles, and sheet music), so the compartment is quite roomy. This heirloom quality piece is extremely sturdy and next to impossible to tip over. It also makes a great extra seat if you have the table and chairs set. And Guidecraft backs their product. We needed to replace a part on another Safari item we bought (that we broke, not Guidecraft's fault) and after one phone call (to a real person) we were sent the new part within a week at no charge for the part or even for shipping! We love the entire Safari set (we also bought the coordinating bookrack, table & chairs set, toy chest, rocking chair, and director's chair), and it will be in our family for decades!

Beautiful and functionalApr 29, 2008 We got this for my then 18-month-old son for Christmas. He was already sleeping in a bed but was unable to climb into it very easily. This allows him to climb into bed by himself, but he also loves playing with it, pointing to the animals to learn their names and opening and closing the lid for the storage area (I like to hide toys in there to surprise him), even climbing into the storage space and climbing out again. The stepstool is well-made, easy to put together, and just so cute!
