Could Be Shipped With More Fore-thoughtMar 10, 2006 I feel that Target could of put more effort into the packaging of this product. The boxes were very heavy, and apparently the guys at UPS let me know about it. However, in Targets defence, the peieces were shipped with the inside out, so any damage, isnt worth waiting the 30 days for it to arrive, to replace it, as its sight unseen, inside the unit.
My only real complaint is for the stickers that lable each peice. They are not put on, the way the piece goes, like, "this end up" style. So, after having used Gorrilla Glue on all the dowels and screws, having gotten all the way to the top back brace, that I put in upside down, and possably backwards, I got to where your sopposed to screw it to the top, and I wasnt going to rip apart all my set parts to fix it.
As far as the doors go, thats the reason for my comment. Everything was clearly marked where screws went, and I felt it went together very easy. I put the doors on, in the closed position, lineing them up with the closures that I had just put on. I had to go back afterwards, and fix one hinge. They dont pop open, or swing around in the wind. And I have to say, its looks awsome in my living room!!
8 hours...Jun 26, 2005 My wife swears it took me 8 hours to build this thing. I think it only took about 3. My biggest complaint is the doors. It took a lot of patience and adjusting to get them to stay shut when we'd close them. Often times I'd get half way out of the room and all the doors would pop back open. After a few weeks of wear and tear they seem to be fine now.
While it is a pain to put together, once complete we have really enjoyed it. We added a dowel on the inside and use it to hang and store our baby clothes.

Looks great, but beware!May 11, 2005 Most of the pre-drilled holes DO NOT MATCH UP. Three of the four pieces covering the back of the enter ARE BADLY WARPED. The assembly of this center IS ANYTHING BUT EASY! The instructions claim you only need a screwdriver, but I've had to get a drill out too, to try to rig this thing to make it work right. It appears that the center I bought was pre-assembled by monkeys...

Good design but a bit shallowMay 08, 2005 I really like this piece. The one gripe that I have is that the design is a bit too shallow for older televisions. There is only 18" of depth for your television, make that 17 3/4" when you use the lower latch on the door. I had to do some quick cutting on the rear plywood boards so that the backside of my television could sit inside with the doors closed. Other that that issue, the design is very simple with a nice rustic finish. There is plenty of space for media storage in the lower cabinets and it is small enough not to overpower the living room.
