5Great for the price!Mar 04, 2008
This is a wonderful, solid little step stool for the money! I bought it for my kids ( 3 1/2 and 2 years ) and they love it! Both my husband and I are small people so our kids have always been in the low percentiles for their age. We had an inexpensive plastic step stool, but my oldest is so little we still had to lift her the extra distance so she could wash her hands. This step stool is perfect because the extra step gives her enough height to not only wash her hands, but also easily turn the faucet on and off by herself. This is nice for me, and she feels like she's a big girl now. I also like that it's solid wood and not particle board. The storage space isn't real big, but I don't care since that wasn't what I purchased it for anyway. For the price you get a sturdy little stool that does the job and also looks nice.

5Sturdy, Safe and some StorageJan 15, 2008
The stool is sturdy, handsome, and useful. Never rocks. Lifts you about 13 inches up, and has many applications. I got two of these from Target - one natural/one white. Cost $25 when we got them in like 2004. The stool does what you'd expect and lasts. Two levels, storage, good price. Five stars.

The finish is OK, haven't noticed scratches, which is to say that it must be strong enough to last the few years we've owned it. Kids have a way of banging things up, but ours has aged well. The variety of finishes - white, natural, wheat -- make this product attractive. I haven't seen one in cherry yet -- not for $25.

The storage is practical, although not as much room as you would expect. It is 6 x 11 inches, and 6 inches deep (not all the way to the floor). Other stools have a drawer in the bottom, which is about twice as big. That's fine unless you let it slide out while carrying it. Also, you can pinch fingers in the lid if you hold the stool wrong. But while not moving it, I think the step stool is very safe. It's too heavy for a toddler to do much more than push it. No problems noted with the hinges -- top stayed on for four years now.

It is just perfect for a toddler to get up to a bathroom sink. The best feature is the two levels which allowed my little one (1yr old) to climb up onto our bed. Amazing. Soon after walking, he could use this to climb up and really expand his universe. But for an older kid, the steps are less useful -- and you may want a wider, level platform. You can sit comfortably on the top step if you like. We use it in our closet, to help reach the top shelf. If it wasn't so nice, this stool might be useful for a work box to store a few tools and carry to the "job site". I use a plastic one for that instead like this -- Step Stool Toolbox

This is one of those products that pretty much does what you expect. That's why I like it. Useful in the closet and with kids. Looks nice, works fine.
