Great Ottoman - Coffee TableFeb 08, 2008 I recently purchased this ottoman. It arrived in perfect condition. I love it. The hinge on the lid stays open until you close it. That's a great feature. You don't have to worry about the lid crashing down on you or your little ones when you are getting something. Plenty of storage space. (Mine does not have the bad smell that others complained about.) It's a great ottoman and coffee table. Although, I use a wooden tray on top when I have food or drinks just to protect the pleather. It is also sturdy and comfortable enough to serve as an extra seat.I love it!

Just What I NeededNov 01, 2007 This is just what I needed for my bedroom. I needed a space where I could store my linens without using much needed closet or drawer space. I'm not looking for something to pass from generation to generation. At this price you are getting exactly what you pay for. If you're looking for something made of real leather then you will have to shell out those high-end prices. Smell? What smell? Maybe you just got a bad shipment or the unit you purchased was mixed in with something else. I detect no odor. If you're looking for something reasonable the pick this storage ottoman otherwise keep moving til you find what suits your pocketbook.

poor constructionAug 07, 2007
I just needed something that could hold my laundry within 40inch corner space in the bedroom and that could go well with all the black urban decor I already have. And, I thought this could be the perfect match.
However, after finding it next to the black faux leather one side by side at Target store, I was quite disappointed. Believe me, this could be still useful for a dorm room for 2-3 years of rough handling then chuck away.
Here are my description of actual ottomans(black, Mahogany) I have seen in the store.
1. Mahogany(very slight red hint) has crackle finish which makes it glossy and leather-like than smooth black version with matte finish. They are both vinyl. Be warned.
2. The legs are short and not tapered which doesn't enhance the look, rather it makes the storage box look cheaper.
3. Interior finish has lots of brown glue spill marks and covered with the cheap fabric that you find at the bottom of cheap sofa, which tears easily while I was even lifting the lids.
4. The glue smell is caustic as another reviewer mentioned. I wasn't sure of even keeping my dirty laundry.
5. light weight, in case you want a solid piece.
6. stitches seem to be fine but I found a loose corner and stitch line did not match with the contour of the top lid of mahogany one, that really helped me to decide not to buy it.
smellyApr 07, 2007 We bought it and returned it because of the caustic odor. Tried to clean it but the inside smelled strong. It would be a good ottoman if you had a poor sense of smell.
We also tried buying another to see if the smell would be better. It was not. It's hard to notice in the store with all the other smells.

Storage ottomanFeb 20, 2007 Quickly shipped and as described, but make sure you have plenty of FEBREEZE on hand; the ottoman carries a strange oil-based smell that lingers for weeks.
