| | | Living Room Furniture | Home » » Strathwood Folding Armchair, Set of 2 | | | | | | | Description: | | Drink in the sunset from your balcony or patio with this set of folding armchairs from Strathwood, which can be paired with a bistro table that's perfect for meals for two. The chairs are made of kapur, a dense and highly durable hardwood from Southeast Asia (primarily Indonesia and Malaysia). The kapur has a fine-sanded, oil-stained finish in a warm, mahogany brown tone. Rivaling teak for strength and resistance to weather and insects, kapur is ideal for outdoor use. Left untreated, it will weather to a soft, warm shade of gray similar to that of weathered teak. The chairs have a slatted seat and back, with a slightly tilted angle on the back for maximum comfort. The sturdy, rust-resistant mortise-and-tenon joinery construction will last for many years. Each chair, when unfolded, measures 21 inches wide, 24 inches deep, and 36 inches high. The chairs come ready to use; no assembly required. Before shipment, your new furniture will receive a generous application of teak oil, which provides protection from ultraviolet light. If you prefer to prevent the kapur from weathering, you may apply additional coats of teak oil. How often you'll need to apply teak oil will depend on the intensity of the sun in your environment, but typically, one or two coats per year is sufficient. Teak oil can usually be found at a marine dealer or hardware store, or through an Internet merchant. If you allow your furniture to weather, you may later decide that you want to restore it to its original condition. This is possible using teak-cleaner products, also available at most marine dealers or through Internet merchants. After following the instructions for cleaning, you will want to apply a coat of teak oil to prevent the weathering process. What's in the Box Two folding chairs | | | Features: | |

Attractive and comfortable chairsJul 29, 2008 We love the look and feel of these chairs. A very good buy for the price. It will be interesting to see how the kapur wood holds up once rain arrives.

Great for the price, sturdy and attractiveJul 20, 2008 We purchased this set of 2 folding armchairs to go with the matching bistro table. They look amazing on our balcony-- the color of the wood is beautiful and classic. We added two cushy seat cushions from IKEA and really recommend getting seat cushions, as it makes the chairs quite comfortable (I've sat on them for about 3 hours straight doing work). The chairs are sturdy, attractive and have held up well in the heat and humidity of New York City. We got them when Amazon was having a summer patio furniture sale and the price was unbeatable. The chairs were $89.99, the table was $21.52, plus shipping the total was about $150. An amazing set for the price.

Great chairs!Jul 14, 2008 Chairs arrived quickly and were packed extremely well. They are very comfortable, look nice and just needed the screws tightened.
Strathwood Outdoor FurnitureJul 14, 2008 Fine, well-crated, outdoor furniture, at a great price! This was a first addition to a new screened deck/porch. Everyone who has seen it complimented how good it looked. You have to be familiar with the craftsmanship of furniture from the Far East, in this case Vietnam, to know the quality and pride that go into each piece. A yearly couple of coats of Teak oil and it will retain the fine texture and color of the wood from that region for as many years as you'd care to keep it.
Nice Chairs, Great PriceJun 23, 2008 I noticed the slight side-to-side movement mentioned in another review and used a 4mm hex wrench to tighten up the fittings, and it eliminated the flex and made the chairs feel very solid. They may leave the chairs loose intentionally so they flex a bit while shipping, but it would be nice if they included a wrench along with instructions.
One review mentioned that they unfold by themselves, and this tendency was greatly reduced after tightening the nuts.
The chair is a great buy at $89.99 + shipping. They shipped out of Nevada and arrived at my Northern California home overnight. It's a big box, and luckily I had a neighbor who helped me get them up our front stairs.
